He then relocated to a five-acre farm off West Tapps Highway in Bonney Lake. Over the years, Mark has witnessed many changes in the area. Treasurer: Monica Taylor monica4888@hotmail.com

Mark Freeman has lived in the Bonney Lake area since 1965, growing up in Lake Jane Estates. He was part of the original group forming what became the GBLHS and was involved for about three years before leaving the organization due to outside workload. Local history is a longtime interest, so after a 15-year break, he has returned to the GBLHS to help contribute to a worthwhile cause – to find, document, display, and celebrate the history of this place we call home. Mark has served as a past president of the Sumner Band Parents Association and the University of Washington Husky Band Foundation and is the current stadium announcer for the Sumner High School Marching Band. He recently retired from Boeing after 29 years, 20 of which were spent as a Lean Manufacturing analyst and workplace coach. Much of that included asking many questions and applying critical thinking - separating facts from perception in the workplace to advance improvements to the manufacturing process. In dealing with history, this is one way to determine whether a good story is true!

She saw the tremendous growth that resulted from the US Government's federal housing assistance plan under the Farm Administration program. Seeing the first supermarkets, fast-food restaurants, new schools, and, of course, the increase in population, inspired her to preserve some of the natural and historic attributes of Bonney Lake.
